Pam became comatose and unresponsive on Wednesday afternoon May 25. The hospice nurses gave us detailed instruction on owe to take care of her and administer her pain medication. Pam was in a room surrounded by windows with the warm spring light. She was bathed, had her hair brushed and got plenty of her favorite lip balm. Our family took shifts to give Pam around the clock attention – she was treated like a Queen. Even though Pam was in a coma, we all felt that she could hear us and was with us. One of Pam’s closest friends Alice and her husband, Rick, cut there Florida trip short and got to our house on Wednesday evening. For the next several hours we watched old home movies of our families growing up together. There was a lot of laughing and crying that night.

Nick, Greta’s fiancé then and now husband flew in from Denver on Saturday May 28, right after Pam died. We all decided on a small Celebration of Life at our house while everyone was still home. The event was held on Thursday June 2 – we announced it on Facebook and Instagram. The day after the event I wrote down everyone I saw there at the event – I hope I didn’t miss anyone.
