Welcome to Office_1285! I’m Bruce the curator of this blog along with my companions Cleo and Aspen. This blog site is about; camping, cooking, cycling and a journey through retirement. My retirement officially began at the stroke of midnight on December 31, 2022 – at the age of 67. The definition of retirement is to leave one’s job and cease to work, typically upon reaching the normal age for leaving employment. To me however, retirement means to start over doing something different and with a different purpose.

A little background information. My wife, Pam, and I spent the last 40 years running and growing a small business while also raising 2 children. We always dreamed that one day we would be able to retire and explore the world in ways we had never been able to before. In January of 2022 we had a buyer for the business and set things in motion to sell and retire on December 31, 2022.

A month later,  in February of 2022, Pam was diagnosed with stage 3 Multiple Myeloma. For 4 months Pam was treated with chemo, blood transfusions and chemicals before succumbing to the cancer on May 28, 2022. We were together for 43 years and she wasn’t supposed to leave me so soon.

Pam will be traveling with us in our hearts and minds – and she was such a good cook she will definitely be chiming in on the recipes as well. I hope you enjoy our tales and reviews.
